The Shire held its first Aboriginal Reference Group meeting, on 23 July 2024. Councillors, staff, and representatives from Boddingtons Aboriginal community discussed key issues and initiatives aimed at cultural preservation and community well-being.
Discussions included continued recognition of Aboriginal culture through current and future projects, such as ideas for a mural in the town celebrating Aboriginal heritage.
Feedback from attendees was positive, with representatives appreciating the inclusive and respectful environment. Regular meetings are planned to ensure continued progress.
