The Shire of Boddington is seeking feedback on a proposed speed limit adjustment to 40 km/h on Bannister Marradong road, within the Boddington townsite, which is aimed at addressing ongoing safety concerns.
Bannister Marradong Road is managed by Main Roads WA, who are seeking to quantify the level of community support for this change. The current speed limit on Boddington's main street is 50 km/h. The proposal suggests a reduction to 40 km/h, and is prompted by community concerns regarding road and pedestrian safety. The proposal also aligns with speed reductions in other towns throughout the region, which have frequent heavy vehicle traffic.
Council have supported community consultation on the proposed reduction, due to the enhancement of pedestrian safety, particularly for children and the elderly.
Comments can be submitted online here , via email to shire@boddington.wa.gov.au, or in person at the Shire Administration. Feedback closes at 4 pm on 9 January 2024.
